Study in Australia
Australian courses and degrees for Malaysian students
This is a short guide to Australian higher education and VET, not a catalogue of every Australian institution. We match a CRICOS course to your results, budget and future plans, then apply.
Two systems, one student visa
International students in Australia study on CRICOS courses under the Australian Qualifications Framework. For most Malaysians the useful split is higher education (bachelor, master, PhD) versus Vocational Education and Training (certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas at TAFE and private colleges).
- Higher education: academic and professional degrees. Stronger brand; higher fees; typical route for STPM/UEC/A-Level and first-degree holders.
- VET: practical, often cheaper, sometimes packaged into a bachelor. Useful after SPM or for trade-aligned careers.
- Many diplomas credit into a related bachelor, that is how you save a year if the mapping is done properly.
How we choose a course with you
We do not start from “which university is famous in Australia.” We start from what you can enter, what you can pay, which city you can live in, and whether the qualification supports later 485 or skilled assessment. A prestigious degree you will fail or cannot fund is a bad recommendation.
- Entry: your last qualification versus the institution’s Malaysian equivalency.
- English: IELTS/PTE versus packaged English.
- Occupation and skills-assessment reality, if PR is even on the horizon.
- Location: metro versus regional (regional study can change 485 length and nomination options).
- Scholarships and partner offers we can actually obtain for that intake.
Fields Malaysians often ask about
Business, IT, nursing, early childhood, engineering, hospitality and cookery come up constantly. Popular is not the same as suitable. Nursing and teaching have registration and English bars. Cookery and hospitality can be a VET-to-work story in the right region. We will not sell a course because a friend did it in 2019.

FAQ
Can I study any course on a student visa?+
You must be enrolled in a CRICOS-registered full-time course that matches your CoE. Changing course after you arrive can affect visa conditions. Talk to us before you switch.
Is TAFE or university better?+
Neither is universally better. University suits academic degrees and many professional registrations. TAFE/VET suits applied skills and some packaged bachelor pathways. The right answer is the one you can enter, finish, and afford.
Do you list every Australian university?+
No. This mini-site is not UniEnrol. We work with partner institutions and will still advise on a non-partner option if it is clearly the better academic fit.
